Directions

  1. Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  2. Beat the margarine and 1/3 cup confectioners' sugar with an electric mixer in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the egg, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and the almond extract until completely incorporated. Mix in the pudding mix until smooth. Stir in the flour until just incorporated, then fold in the chocolate chips, mixing just enough to evenly combine.
  3. Form the cookie dough into 1-inch balls, and place onto the prepared baking sheet. Use your thumb to make an indent into each cookie.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven until the edges are golden, 10 to 14 minutes. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
  5. While the cookies are cooling, prepare the filling by stirring 1 1/2 cups confectioners' sugar in a bowl with 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, milk, and food coloring. Add additional milk as needed to make the mixture smooth. Spoon a little of the green filling into each cooled cookie, and top with a candy kiss.

These were a big hit with my niece and nephews! Green Booger cookies for Halloween and they taste great! And now that I know what they look like when they're done, I can make the next batch look like eyeballs by using vanilla pudding mix and white chocolate chips, colored frosting in the thumbprint and a chocolate chip in the center. Plus a little red frosting drizzled on the white cookie part to look like a bloodshot eyeball!!!

me and all my friends liked the cookies but i know why they call them monster cookies. They make a monster load of cookies. Next time I am only making half the batch.

easy, easy to make and the kids loved them.....my husband too...I used green decorating icing in a tube....faster....the Trick or Treaters had lots of comments when they were told the name! My niece has already requested them next Halloween for her class.

Easy and fun to make, taste great! Next time I make this I will add green food coloring to the cookie dough, before adding the food color to get a greener cookie. Also make large thumb holes so that kiss fits all the way in, if you force it in then cookies will crack.

Had to amend from my original 3 stars. My son took these to school in his lunch one day, and the boy sitting next to him asked that I make them again so he could have more. Good reviews from the kids, I just wasn't big on the powdered sugar frosting. May use frosting in a tube next time or none at all.

I love the taste of these. My husband and I made them and used both Hershey's Kisses and Rolos. The Rolos on top were delicious. The only thing I might do differently next time is use orange frosting. All the green made me think of St. Patty's Day - I realize it's the "booger" theme but I still thought orange rosting might make them seem more Halloween-ish. Great recipe!!!!!

These are really cute but lack in taste a little. Not sure why or what but it needs something. Cute idea though.
