Everyone in our family loved this chili, and we're all TEXANS (fifth and sixth generation, at that)! I have some trouble making a recipe just as it's written, so I left some things out (bacon bits, red bell pepper, Tabasco) and substituted some things (canned green chiles for the fresh ones). I also left out the bouillion cubes. I didn't want all the added sodium. I played with the spices a bit to make sure it had enough flavor. The Italian sausage helped in that area and was a great addition to the ground beef. I think this will be my go-to recipe that I'll use as a guide with my own modifications.
Even Longhorns and Aggies can get along with Boilermakers, especially when food is involved.
