Ingredients

  • 1 cup pearl tapioca
  • 5 1/2 cups water
  • 3 cups brown sugar
  • 1 cup chopped dates
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch salt

Directions

  1. Stir the tapioca into the water in a bowl, and allow to soak 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C). Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
  3. Mix the soaked tapioca, brown sugar, dates, walnuts, butter, cinnamon, and salt together in a large bowl; transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  4. Bake until set, about 1 hour. Serve warm.
