This marinade was excellent. I am not a fan of hots, so I left that out. I will use this marinade again.

This is in no way an exaggeration, this is a brilliant recipe. I added a little ketchup because I'm overly southern :) But it really didn't need it, I'm just redneck.

My family loves steak... they'd eat it every meal, if they could!... but no one cared for this marinade. I'm not sure if it was the basil or the overall combo, but it was way too sweet, and way too strong. Will not use this recipe again, and would not recommend.

I have made this quite a few times and think the best was when I did puree it in the food processor. It must just "blend" the flavors better.

My husband did not slather his steak in ketchup after taking the "required" one bite without ketchup! No matter how tasty a marinade I've used in the past, he's always still used kethcup. Upon tasting his steak tonight, he declared he would not use ketchup tonight. He raved the entire meal.

I have mixed feelings about this. My steaks were incredibly tender after marinating for 24 hours, so it has that going for it. But, the marinade itself has a weird, earthy flavor to it (because of all those spices). I was not a huge fan. It didn't have an overpowering taste on the steak, but I did was one reviewer suggested - I coated the mushrooms with the marinade and cooked them. You could really tell the marinade's taste with the mushrooms, and it was not pleasant. It was a little dirty tasting.
