This was a very easy and tasty recipe. Simple ingredients that I mostly had on hand. The only substitutes were that I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned, chicken stock instead of beef, and white wine vinegar, instead of white wine. Was very, very good.

I thought this was a terrific recipe for something as banal as "beef stroganoff" - I used a flat-iron steak for the meat - there's no fat on it to trim, just slice n' dice . . . When browning the meat, I didn't do the "push to the side" thing - just added the green onion and half of a chopped small white onion. I substituted a bit of red wine for the liquid amount of the broth, added about a teaspoon of worchestshire sauce and used half sour cream/half cream cheese. Using the flat-iron steak speeds up the cooking because it is such a tender cut of meat. This whole dish can be ready in about 30 minutes that way.

My husband said, "I'd pay money for this." I did change a few things: Instead of beef broth, I used condensed golden mushroom soup mixed with water, and I added the mushrooms with the onion. I also used 1/2 sour cream and 1/2 cream cheese. I'm not a beef eater, so I don't know what this dish was supposed to taste like, but according to my husband, it's spot on.

I have honestly never made or had beef stroganoff, but husband really wanted it. I made this with top sirloin and it was awesome! My hubby loved it!! I used yellow onion instead of green b/c I didn't have green and it was very good.

I’ve used this recipe for Stroganoff several times with only minor changes … used fresh (sautéed) mushrooms and eliminated the white wine (because it thinned the sauce too much) and my family has always enjoyed it. But, after reading some of the reviews, I decided to try marinating the beef (sirloin) in red wine for a couple of hours and added a chopped clove of garlic (at the same time the green onions were added). These two changes along with using the fresh mushrooms have made this an absolute family favorite.

I love beef stroganoff. Sorry, this recipe was just o.k for my family and I. Not the best, but not the worst either.

Very tasty and great flavor, I used Golden Mushroom Soup instead of beef broth and omitted the mushrooms, because I dont like canned and didnt have fresh.I added the wine before simmering in my LeCreuset in a very low oven(250)for about 90 minutes. Used sirloin tip steak.

I was looking for a way to use up some round steak I had in my freezer and decided to try this recipe since most people were rating it 5 stars. My family just didn't think it was that great. The only modifications I made were using the round steak and Walla Walla onions instead of green. This stroganoff was not thick enough for our taste and lacked flavor. It was really bland. It didn't taste bad, but I won't make it again.

Fabulous! This is absolutely the best stroganoff recipe I have ever used. The whole family loved it. I followed the directions exact except I omitted the mushrooms.
