"This is an heirloom recipe from my grandmother. We used to beg my mom to make these. Not intended to be placed on a grill, they are best served over rice with a nice green salad."

Directions

  1. In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef, oats, milk, 2 tablespoons minced onion, salt, and pepper. Let stand for a few minutes until milk is absorbed, and shape into 8 patties.
  2. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix the Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, sugar, ketchup, and 1/4 cup chopped onion; set aside.
  3. Heat the oil in a medium skillet over medium heat, and fry the patties until brown on both sides. Pour the sauce in with the patties, and reduce heat. Continue cooking about 15 minutes.

My husband and I loved these burgers. They were so moist. I didn't have condensed milk so I just used regular and it was fine. Also I added 2 teaspoons of brown sugar. I was really suprised at how good they were. Thank-You

While this recipe was very good, it was much closer to meat loaf than to hamburgers.

So easy to make and so moist. Made hamburger sandwiches out of leftovers, with just mustard and dill pickle slices. Awesome.....

These were delicious and very easy to make. I made a sauce out of equal parts barbecue sauce and ketchup, and both my hubby and I really enjoyed them. Thanks for sharing!

Delicious alternative to the typical fried burger. I doubled the sauce ingredients, 'cause we like lots of sauce, and eliminated the sugar. Served with rice, it's great!

Too much like a bland meatloaf for us. Will stick with plain ole burgers with the works.

Absolutely AWESOME!!! I didn't have evaporated milk so used buttermilk and it turned out wonderfully!!! I am pregnant (and have a toddler and husband to feed) and constantly looking for quick, easy, yummy recipes to please my whole family. This will definitely be added to our rotation!!! My toddler loves it!!! Even my picky husband liked it!!!
