I triad everything under the sun to makes this recipe less bland. It didn't work at all. Even with the oregano, paprika, and cumin, fresh garlic. It was still very boring. If anyone can find the way to spice this up. Please post it

Even better as leftovers, so make plenty. Because the previous review said it as kind of bland I added green chiles, celery salt, oregano, paprika, cumin & 1/2 a can of beer so it has liquit to boil. It turned out quite yummy!

While this is a decent and healthy recipe, I really didn't find it to be all that great. I was also shocked to see the only spices it called for was salt and pepper! I followed the basic recipe except I used regular tomatoes that I diced. NOTE: When doing it this what you MUST add some sort of liquid to get the boil going. I added beef stock and water enough to cover the bottom of the pan. I added parsley, oregano, basil, onion, and garlic powder on top of the salt and pepper and it still came out kind of bland. Once completed and served just adding salt and a little pepper made a huge improvement. My toddler wouldn't touch it but I got my finance to eat it and he hasn't touched a vegetable in weeks, hence my reference to it being healthy. In my opinion this is an easier and cheaper beef stew/pot roast. I'd probably make it again but I will just have to find something else to better flavor it.
