This recipe was a big hit with my husband and me. I think the bacon was key to the taste and using the most lean ground beef kept the fat down. I sauteed the veggies in a tablespoon of olive oil before adding them to the sauce. There was plenty for leftovers (it did taste even better the day after) and I gave a quart container to a friend who raved this was the most delicious chili he ever had. I've been requested to bring a huge pot to the Super Bowl Party on Sunday. Thanks, Jennifer. for sharing your recipe.

This is the best chili I've ever had. I skipped the dried red pepper and used mild chili seasoning. Mmmmmm . . . Next time I'll make more to freeze in individual servings for lunches.

Absolutely delicious, but much, much better the next day! I left out the carrots as suggested in other reviews and also added garlic. I didn't notice the bacon flavor and will add more next time. Thankyou for the wonderful recipe!

THIS IS SO GOOD! I made it for a sick friend of mine with a batch of White Lily Cornbread. It looks great and I can't wait to give it to her. I added a full cup of wine and 2 chopped red apples. Thank you so much for the recipe!

This recipe is wonderful. My three year even thought it was great and my husband said it was the best chili he's ever tasted. I liked the fact that the spices were not overwelming. I just used my individual spices out of the cupboard instead of buying a spice packet. I used chili powder, cumin, a pinch or so of cayenne pepper and some garlic. It turned out great.
