I made this as a Mother's Day brunch, and it turned out fantastic! I didn't have cinnamon raisin bread on hand, so I just used white sandwhich bread. Like other reviewers mentioned, I spread the bread with the cream cheese (which I had mixed with a tsp of vanilla, some cinnamon and allspice) and laid the slices in the casserole dish instead of cubing the bread and sprinkling it with the cream cheese.
I also doubled the amount of apples, and coated them with a little cinnamon and sugar before adding them.
I followed the rest of the recipe to the "T," and we all loved it! My mom said it was the best part of her Mother's Day...definitely a keeper!
