I began this recipe but was unable to complete it. I followed the directions exactly with the result a goopy mess. I melted the 1/2 cup butter and added the 2 1/2 cups of flour. The recipe states to "stir until smooth"-there was no smooth, just coarse crumbled flour and butter. I added another stick of melted butter, the water, and sugars. That is when I got the goopy mess. The recipe states to boil the butter, water, and sugars-there was no liquid to boil. The goopy mess tasted good but was unable to be made into a syrup for the apples. I was disappointed, I wasted two sticks of butter on this recipe.
