Amazing Salmon Marinade

"This marinade is great for grilled salmon. It works well with any cut of salmon. However, I typically use salmon fillets. I like king salmon best, but it works well on any type of fresh salmon. This marinade is enough for 3 pounds of salmon."

Directions

  1. Make a shallow pan from a double layer of aluminum foil. Place foil pan in a large baking sheet.
  2. Arrange salmon fillets in the prepared foil pan, skin-side down. Stir basil, honey, lemon, oil, soy sauce, shallot, Worcestershire sauce, and ginger together in a bowl; pour over salmon. Let salmon marinate for 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  3. Preheat grill for medium-low heat.
  4. Slide salmon in the foil pan off the baking sheet onto the preheated grill. Cover grill.
  5. Cook until salmon is easily flaked with a fork, about 20 minutes.

This recipe is OK. It's missing something. I followed the recipe for the marinade exactly and found the honey dominated the flavors. I would decrease the honey to 1-2 Tablespoons if I make it again. Also, the recipe didn't say how to handle the basil so I put all the ingredients in the food processor and mixed until well blended. I had to look this up--->one lemon juiced = 3 Tablespoons.

I don’t care for salmon and made this for my husband who loves salmon, so this is his rating of a 3. He complained the marinade overpowered the salmon, however the salmon was very moist. I marinated it for one and a half hours, so less time marinating might have worked for him.
