fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 (3.3 ounce) package
instant white chocolate pudding mix
1 (6 ounce) container
coconut-flavored rum, or to taste, divided
2 (16 ounce)
prepared pound cakes, cubed
fresh blueberries, or as needed
This was easy to make and looks beautiful. I didn't use the rum because I made it for children and adults. If I made it for just adults, I would add the rum...yum!
I did have lots of left over pound cake and some strawberries.
I made this for 4th of July, and it was a HUGE hit! It was easy, served a large crowd, and had people begging for seconds! Looks like something you spent a lot of time and effort on, but was really quick, easy, and delicious!
I have not sat down to take a bite but I have tasted all the components to this recipe. And all components are fantastic. I will say, I have a trifle bowl that has a stand on the bottom (I hope that makes sense). Therefore, it is not one big glass bowl. Because of this, I do not think you will need 3 lbs of strawberries. 2lbs in my case would have been plenty. Same with the pound cake. One would have been enough (I made my own so I knew I would have leftovers). Also, I did not use the rum. I think it would have added a really nice touch but I didn't have any and I am serving this to kids as well. Overall, really nice.
Use greek yogurt
that is thicker and then just a light cream or even try 2% milk next time. Use angel food cake and you've got yourself a low cal dessert! (and use honey to sweeten the strawberries instead.)
this was a HIT at my fourth of July bash! EVERYONE loved it! I added a bit more coconut rum than what was called for, but this was amazing!
This is delicious, and a beautiful dessert for a friend who just became a US citizen! My trifle bowl must be a lot smaller than the one in the picture, because I filled it up and had enough fruit, cake and cream to make another smaller trifle. The next time I will buy a little less fruit and maybe just 1 pound cake.
I never leave reviews but, I just made this today for my son's 4th birthday party. I got rave reviews on it. It was all gone before I even got to have some, fortunately I had leftovers when I made it. I did make a few minor changes to it. My family wasn't too up on the white chocolate pudding and lemon yogurt so I went with vanilla yogurt and lemon pudding. Gave it an amazing taste. I will DEFINATELY be making this again and my husband even asked me if our next party was tomorrow so we could have it again. Fabulous recipe!!!
My daughter and I made this together. It was fun, delicious and turned out beautifully. Taking the time to slice enough strawberries in half to carefully line the side of the bowl made a big difference on the look of this dish. We did not use the rum and we substituted French Vanilla for white chocolate because we couldn't find any.
