Original recipe makes 2 servings Change Servings

1/4 cup water
1/4 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon chopped fresh mint leaves

2 cups crushed ice
1/2 cup prepared lemonade
Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine the water, sugar and 1 tablespoon of chopped mint. Stir and bring to a boil. Cook until sugar has dissolved, then remove from heat and set aside to cool. After about an hour, strain out mint leaves.
Fill 2 cups or frozen goblets with crushed ice. Pour 1/2 of the lemonade into each glass and top with a splash of the sugar syrup. Garnish each with a mint sprig and a straw. Serve on a silver platter.

Very refreshing. The mint used in juleps is called Corsican Mint. It has tiny leaves & the plant grows as a ground cover - much different than peppermint and similar varieties. The flavor is very strong. I planted some this spring and have enjoyed it in tea, orange juice, and cocktails.

Very yummy! Easy too. I had to make a second batch of the syrup later in the day because I liked it so much. I also tried it with Limeaid and I loved it that way. It's a very refreshing drink and I am sure I will enjoy them throughout the summer.

i enjoy this all summer long. and if you want bourbon in it, stir in a jigger. i do not think it needs it. frosted ice cold glasses a must. good lemonade a major must. no premade stuff.
