"This pear is an elegant accompaniment for stuffed Cornish game hens with blue cheese and walnuts. Or serve it alongside any blue cheese dish, such as a blue cheese quiche. Easy and tasty! It also makes a lovely dessert."

Directions

  • Prep

  • Cook

  • Ready In

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  2. Peel pears and scoop out bottom core. Cut a small slice from the bottom so pears will stand upright. Place in a shallow baking dish and set aside.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave or a small saucepan over medium heat. Drizzle pears with melted butter and honey, and sprinkle with ground ginger (and lavender, if using). Cover with aluminum foil with the stems poking through foil.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until tender. Baste with released juices occasionally during baking, and again just before serving.

Footnotes

  • Cook's Note:
  • The lavender flowers are optional, but make for an attractive presentation.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the pears, but I felt the recipe was lacking. The pears were still crunchy after an hour and the specified amount of honey and butter didn't give enough syrup to conti...

This is tasty, but I altered it substantially. I combined honey, white wine, ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and a black tea bag and cooked until wine reduced. The added flavor of black tea gives a n...

Everyone thought this was tasty. I used bartlett pears. There is no need to melt the butter in advance. I cut the pears in half and cored them and stuck the butter and brown sugar in the hole, d...

I know it wasn't intended as a dessert but that's how we had it and it was great. My changes were to use fresh ginger because that's what we use in our house and I sprinkled some raw cashews on...

I added some cinnamon to the recipe. Delicious and made the house smell amazing!!!

This was very good and as it said very elegant. My family would have turned up their noses at the lavender flowers, so I left them off. I couldn't find the pears it called for so I just regula...

Yum, I loved this! I love pears, and I've wanted to try this forever. I finally made it tonight, but I didn't make four pears--only 2, bc bf just doesn't share my same love for pears. He like...
