George's Greek Fried Chicken

GJMAVRIS 0

"Delicious fried chicken the way the Greeks make it. Very tasty. You'll want more. Compliment your chicken with some boiled kale, spinach, or string beans seasoned with olive oil, lemon juice, and salt."

  1. In a medium bowl, combine chicken pieces with 1/2 cup olive oil, lemon juice, pepper, salt, oregano, cinnamon, and poultry seasoning. Allow the chicken to soak in the oil and seasonings for five minutes. In fact, rub the marinade into the chicken using your hands.
  2. Heat 1/2 cup olive oil over low heat in a 1 1/2 inch deep frying pan with a lid to fit (to keep the juices in the chicken). Carefully lay the chicken pieces in the frying pan. Put the lid on the pan, and cook until chicken is done, about 20 minutes, flipping pieces occasionally. Increase heat to medium-high, and cook just long enough to make the outside of the chicken brown.
  3. Serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges. Squeeze some lemon on the chicken for delicious added flavor.

I added fresh crushed garlic to the marinade, then baked the chicken instead of frying. We avoid frying. Delish! Next time I'm going to cook it on the grill-- I think that would be even better.

This was awesome. Very quick and easy to make, we used chicken drumsticks, served it with rice and a vegetable--perfect!! Very, very tasty.

Tasty and easy. My husband loved and I loved it. My husband especially liked the subtle hint of olive flavor. Yummy!!

I know that this is a fried chicken recipe, so I am sorry for messing with that part, but for anyone wondering how this tastes as a healthier recipe here it is. I cut the olive oil down to 2 Tbs...

A little greasy, but tastes great!

We liked the lemon flavor, but I could not resist putting a light coat of flour on the chicken before frying it. I think it was a positive addition.

Fabulous flavor in this. I added more cinnamon, and would definitely use less olive oil next time. This chicken tastes great cold, and would be great on a green or ceasar salad. This will defi...

This is a great recipe! It is now my VERY picky daughters' favorite chicken. The only suggestion I have is less oil in the skillet. I did drain most of the oil from the pan before I browned the ...
