Rushin' Casserole

"This recipe is adapted from one I found in a Georgian/Russian cookbook. The original recipe was more complex, and called for other ingredients like lamb -- which my family won't eat. This version is a big favorite in our home. The yogurt sauce can be as garlicky as your family likes. We usually go for lots, but we've had guests who like it with plain yogurt."

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add noodles and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente. Drain, and transfer to a serving dish. While the pasta is cooking, mix together the yogurt and garlic in a medium bowl. Cover, and refrigerate until serving.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with the onion. Season with cinnamon while cooking. Drain off excess grease, and stir in lemon juice and salt. Adjust seasoning to taste. Toss the meat mixture with noodles, and serve hot with cold yogurt sauce spooned over.

A good staple recipe, not fabulous but easy, healthy, and yummy. If you love Stroganoff but want something a lot healthier but equally filling, this is a great substitute. I find myself making...

Don't add too much lemon juice... I believe this is what caused this recipe to be a 2 in the end. It ended up being too sour. The temperature was strange too... adding the yogurt really cooled...

I tried this recipe because it reminded me of a Turkish dish that I love....my husband really liked this - I used what I thought was a lot of garlic and it was still pretty bland for my taste. ...

I figured this would be a recipe I either hated or loved but I found it too different to really give a fair rating to. The cinnamon was odd as I am not used to it but was not too bad. I used som...

I was looking for a fast dinner to make (I live alone) and I thought the ingredients were odd, but reminded me of eastern recipes which I liked (and I love garlic). Not only can I do this in 15 ...

I was very tentative about using a garlic/yogurt mixture as dressing, but I tried this recipe and my boyfriend found it very enjoyable (he wished that I had used more cinnamon!). In any case, o...
