  1. SAUTE first 8 ingredients in hot olive oil in a large Dutch oven until meat is browned.
  2. DRAIN and return meat mixture to Dutch oven.
  3. STIR in cocoa and next 13 ingredients; bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer, stirring occasionally, 1 1/2 hours.
  4. COMBINE sour cream and next 8 ingredients; chill. Serve with chili. Top with shredded cheese, if desired.

I didn't like this recipe. After all of the preparation, I was expecting something amazing. Unfortunately it was just the opposite. I would rather eat canned chili than this.

This was really good, had great flavor. The only thing I didn't like was that it took a long time to cut up the meat. Husband loved it.

I cut back on the jalapeno's as my husband can only handle so much "hot" but this recipe was, thick and tasty. Rated big at home! a nice change with the chickpeas.
