  • Prep

  • Cook

  • Ready In

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Press the pie crust ito a 9-inch pie plate; set aside.
  3. Place broccoli in a glass bowl. Cover bowl with plastic wrap. Cook broccoli in microwave in 1-minute intervals until evenly heated through, about 5 minutes total; set aside.
  4. Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Saute onion and garlic in melted butter until slightly translucent, about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir ham and broccoli into the onion mixture and transfer to the pie crust.
  6. Beat Cheddar cheese, milk, eggs, and black pepper together in a bowl; pour over the ham mixture. Sprinkle paprika over the entire quiche.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until a knife inserted into the center of the quiche comes out clean, 30 to 45 minutes.

Footnotes

  • Cook's Note:
  • You can substitute fresh broccoli (2 cups) instead of steamed. I have added this to the saucepan to cook with the onions and garlic until soft. I also used a mixture of Cheddar and provolone cheese. I would think mushrooms and red peppers might make this even better, but my family is picky.
  • Tip
  • Aluminum foil helps keep food moist, ensures it cooks evenly, keeps leftovers fresh, and makes clean-up easy.

For a true 9" pie, this was too many ingredients. I cut the cheese and ham to 1 cup instead of 1 1/2 cups, and then the eggs fit in the pie shell. As for the cheese, I put a layer of cheese on...

It is a good quiche. It was much more time consuming than my standard spinach quiches. If I make this one again, I will definitely add more broccoli and less ham. Way too much ham for my taste.

Our guests, and Mr. LTH, loved this! I'd have probably rated it "4" stars, myself, but I have to give it "5" based on their rave reviews. I chose to make a potato crust, rather than use a pie ...

I added mushrooms and a sprinkle of nutmeg, and I mixed the cheese into the egg/milk mixture, since the chef forgot to add a step for the cheese. However, it came out very well--thanks for this...

This was so easy and so delicious. I made it for a family brunch and got huge compliments on it. To boot, I completely forgot to add the shredded cheese and it was still outstanding. I can only ...
