  1. Zest 1 lemon into large pieces using a knife. Place lemon zest in a saucepan; top with 1 cup water and sugar. Bring lemon zest mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves and liquid is syrupy, 5 to 10 minutes. Remove saucepan from heat and cool; remove and discard lemon zest.
  2. Stir lemon juice and vodka together in a pitcher; pour in lemon syrup. Stir in enough water to fill the pitcher.
  3. Fill glasses with ice; pour hard lemonade into each glass. Garnish each glass with a lemon slice.



A little work.......BUT ABSOLUTELY WORTH IT. This is outstanding.

I think that a cup of sugar is too much. Next time, I will put less then 3/4 cups in and add more lemon. It needs to be more sour. Too much sugar is not refreshing for a hot day.

I will never buy commercial hard lemonade again because it seems tasteless in comparison! I added more fresh lemon juice: bringing it to a cup. The recipe calls for the juice of 6 lemons, which ...

My husband and I love this. Very sweet and yummy. Totally worth the work. I am not sure why the other reviewer's was so sour. I wonder if her lemons were supersized or she used a smaller pitcher...
