Grilled Teriyaki Tuna

Made  times

"Yellowfin tuna is always delicious when grilled. This is great at a tailgate party, or at your Saturday afternoon summer barbecue. You can add a little cayenne pepper or minced fresh ginger to the marinade to give it a little extra kick."

  • Ready In

  1. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the teriyaki sauce, oil, garlic, and pepper. Place the tuna fillets in the bag. Seal the bag with as little air in it as possible. Give the mix a good shake, to ensure the tuna fillets are well coated. Marinate for 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  2. Meanwhile, preheat an outdoor grill for high heat, and lightly oil grate.
  3. Remove tuna from marinade, and place on grill. For rare tuna, grill for 3 to 5 minutes on each side. For medium, grill 5 to 8 minutes per side. For well done, grill for 8 to 10 minutes per side.

  • Note
  • Cooking times will vary depending on the thickness of the fillets and the heat of the grill. Check the doneness of the fish by making an incision with a knife and checking the color in the middle.

Great Ahi recipe. Taste just the way Mom use to make. I too, seared on a pan rather than the grill. Wonderful dish, will definitely make again.

Fantastic, fantastic, fantastic. LOVE THIS. Was able to grill tuna to perfection - boiled the marinade down and put a small amount on top before serving and it was delicious. Will definitely ...

This was absolutely the best tuna recipe that I have tried to date and I have been cooking for 32 years. It will definately go in our families favorites. D. Powell

Oh My Gosh!! What an outstanding recipe for tuna. I use Trader Joe's Veri Teriyaki sauce and marinate the ahi tuna for one hour in the refrigerator. Cook until medium rare inside, and top wit...

This is a great recipe! Also - regarding the nutritional information (so many reviewers were overly concerned about fat and sodium) - you don't drink the marinade!

I don't like fish. But, I LOVE this! Easy, and melts in your mouth. Thank you for this wonderful, healthy recipe!

Pretty good, followed others advice and marinated for 4 hours, depends on thickness. For 1" steaks, 2 hours should do.

Very good - I grilled it on my George Foreman and it came out fabulously.

This went over big with my family. We had nice, thick, fresh tuna steaks and I really didn't want to use a bottled sauce but we were on vacation and I didn't have the right ingredients to make ...
