  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook ziti in boiling water until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 13 minutes; drain. Rinse ziti with cold water until cool; drain.
  2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  3. Mix ziti, ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, egg, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.
  4. Spread 1/2 cup tomato sauce into the bottom of a 2 1/2-quart shallow baking dish. Pour ziti mixture into the dish. Top with remaining 1 1/2 cup tomato sauce and Parmesan cheese.
  5. Bake in preheated oven until sauce and cheese layer is bubbly and lightly browned, about 30 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

This was a good base but I tweaked things. I added salt pepper garlic powder oregano and basil to the tomato sauce and ziti mixture. It was tasty but came out "watery". I also used part skim ric...

Love this easy ziti recipe. Made some changes , added some extra Ricotta, used our own sauce, added no egg-salt-or pepper, (already in our sauce). Baked at 350 for 30 min in a 3 gt dish. Fant...

This is my favorite baked ziti and stood out amongst many other baked ziti dishes at an event. I use Rao's sauce and it makes a world of difference. Totally perfect.

I think this is a great base recipe that leaves a lot of room for your own twists and preferences. I used Rao's jarred marinara sauce, Sargentos 6 cheese blend instead of mozzarella and a tsp of...

Liked it. Would use much less mozzarella in the cheese mixture and save it for on the top. Mine needed more sauce in the pan.

Love this dish, very flavorful, and quick. I would love to add ground turkey, and a little spice next time.

ABSOLUTELY yummy and easy! I just added more mozzarella because I just love the cheesey goodness!
