Cream butter with 1/2 cup of the brown sugar until soft and blended; beat in oats, the flours, wheat germ and orange rind. Pat into 8-inch square pan.
Mix eggs, almonds, raisins, coconut, chocolate bits and 1/4 cup brown sugar; pour over base and spread evenly. Bake at 350 degrees, 35 minutes, or until almonds are golden brown. Cool; cut into 12 bars or squares; wrap with Saran to keep moist.
