  1. In large microwaveable bowl, mix cereals and cashews.
  2. In 2-cup microwaveable measuring cup, microwave brown sugar, butter, corn syrup, chili and red pepper uncovered on high about 1 1/2 minutes, stirring after 1 minute, until melted and smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal mixture; stir until evenly coated.
  3. Microwave uncovered on high 5 to 6 minutes, stirring after every minute. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool. Break into bite-size pieces; stir in chocolate chips. Store in airtight container.

You can't really taste the spices at all. It may be better if you add the spices after the microwaving or double the amount.

I didn't follow the directions! I just melted everything except the cereal together in a double boiler on the stove top, then stirred that mixture into the cereal. I used chipotle pepper powde...
