"This is a favorite home meal from my mom. My sister had to write while my mom cooked in order to get the recipe right. It's easy and will impress anyone. Serve steaming hot on a bed of white rice."

  1. Heat the oil in a stockpot over medium-high heat. Dust the beef with the flour. Place the beef, garlic, bay leaves, and pepper in the stockpot; cook until the beef is brown; season with salt and cook until beef is tender, about 5 minutes. Add the onion, green pepper, carrot, and paprika; cook until the onion softens, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomato, wine, water, and parsley. Cover, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 30 minutes.
  2. Mix in the red potatoes, sweet potatoes, and green beans; continue to cook until potatoes are easily pierced through with a fork, about 45 minutes.

Delicious stew! Even better the next day. I'll be making this regularly! Followed the directions and ingredients exactly, wouldn't change a thing. I might try it in the slow cooker though, a...

Probably the best Beef stew I have ever made. I did not have any wine but used canned diced tomatoes in juice instead of the wine and 1/2 tomatoe, worked great!!

this was pretty good - added some mushrooms & celery - but the sweet potatoes made it for me

This stew is delicious! I added 1/2 cup chicken broth for extra savoriness. This was my first time cooking with wine, and I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor it added to the stew. I used ...

I used half cup beef broth and half cup of a pink wine (red & white mix, because I didn't have white) and fresh green beans instead of canned. The sweet potato/yams added an underlying sweetnes...

Browned beef then threw it all in the slow cooker on high for about 3-1/2 hours (6-8 hrs on low). Love this recipe - I doubled the spices, left out the green pepper (don't care for it much) and...

Fabulous Recipe, especially for a base recipe! I added the sweet potatoes too soon and they had disintegrated by the time it was ready to serve, though flavor amazing. Next time I will add hal...

This was delicious. I made it in the pressure cooker to save time. I used all sweet potatoes instead of some red and fresh green beans instead of a can, otherwise everything was the same. Wond...
