  1. In a small bowl, combine the dates and water; let stand for 15 minutes (do not drain). In a mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar; add egg and mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture alternately with dates and liquid. Stir in walnuts.
  2. Pour into a greased 8-in. x 4-in. x 2-in. loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 60-65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.

I made this recipe this morning and it is delicious. The perfect date nut bread, in my opinion.

Really good! I have done it first as is, then I changed the dates for prunes, apple or whatever I have and it comes out as good! :D
