  1. In a large skillet, cook beef and sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.
  2. Transfer to a 5-qt. slow cooker. Add the celery, broth, water, onion, rice, mushrooms and soy sauce; mix well. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cover and cook for 4 hours or until the rice is tender.


  • Hearty Wild Rice is filling enough to be served as a main course with fresh whole wheat bread and a salad. Or use it as a side dish for any meaty entree.

Let me start off by saying... I would try this again with some changes! First problem was the veggies was crunchy and the rice was just mushy :( The only thing I did not add was the sausage bec...

Too salty and the wild rice didn't 'POP' as it's supposed to so I micrwaved it in batches to get the grass to absorb. Next time I'd omit the soy sauce. I also added a can of chopped water ches...
