  1. In a large bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Store in an airtight container in a cool dry place for up to 6 months.


  • 2 cups Brownie Mix

    3 eggs, separated

    3 tablespoons milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, egg yolks, milk and vanilla; mix well. In a small mixing bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; fold into the batter. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 9 servings.

    1 cup Brownie Mix

    2/3 cup water

    Ice cream

    Maraschino cherries, optional

    In a saucepan, bring the brownie mix and water to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer for 1-2 minutes or until thickened. Serve over ice cream. Garnish with cherries if desired. Yield: about 1 cup.

    4 cups Brownie Mix

    4 eggs

    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    1-1/3 cups chopped walnuts

    1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

    In a mixing bowl, combine the brownie mix, eggs and vanilla; mix well. Fold in the walnuts and chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack. Yield: 2 dozen.

These were absolutely delicious! I used dark baking cocoa, and added icing on top. I will definitely use this recipe the next time I want to make brownies.

its ok, a little too cake like for me.....i made the walnut brownies with this mixture....thought the shortening was a little weird tho, maybe leave it out, and add oil when u actually make them...

Made the Brownie Snack Cake, great fluffy/squishy texture! I was happy to find a recipe with no chocolate chips, so no extra shopping. On the other hand the chocolate taste wasn't strong enough....

wow just wow these were delicouis esspecily the walnut one they were amazing my family loved them and i cant even cook but this recipie is so easy even i can make it :)
