  1. In a bowl, combine the first five ingredients. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in buttermilk just until moistened. Gently fold in the cheese and apples. Turn onto a floured surface; knead 10 times.
  2. Pat into a 9-in. circle. Cut into eight wedges. Separate wedges and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees F for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

VERY good scones. Reduced the milk to 2/3 cup and cooked at 375 for 20 minutes. YUM!

I found these scones to be a hit! They were fluffy and flavorful and Great with Apple butter!

pretty good...they were very dense though. I used whole wheat flour instead. Great with a little left over sugar sauce from apple dumplings!
