  1. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the orange juice, water, orange peel and almond extract; mix well. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt; add to creamed mixture. Beat for 2 minutes. Pour into a greased 8-in. square baking dish. Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Remove to a wire rack to cool completely.
  2. For the frosting, combine the confectioners' sugar, butter and enough orange juice to achieve spreading consistency. Frost cake.

This is a nice cake. Beautifully moist, good orange flavour and the frosting was good too. I did use 1 1/2 T of orange juice in the frosting to get the consistency I like. Thankyou Kathleen for ...

I must have done something wrong because the taste and texture was like an orange flavored sponge. My toddlers loved it though.

it taste ok but its really really dry, i like my cake moist and this is not moist.

Pretty good. The cake was a bit dry but had good flavor. May be somewhat my fault as I used regular flour in place of the cake flour (all I had at the time). The glaze also had a nice flavor. Wo...

I thought this was wonderfully different! The cake is moist and perfectly complimented by the thin layer of tangy frosting. I used vanilla extract and some lemon juice in both the cake and fro...

Really enjoyed this cake. Quick and easy! The frosting needed a little more orange to it (in my opinion) so maybe some orange rind might make it taste better.
