  1. In a large resealable plastic bag, combine the first six ingredients. Cut an 1/8-in.-deep diamond pattern into both sides of steak. Place in the bag; seal and turn to coat. Refrigerate overnight.
  2. Drain and discard marinade. Place steak on a broiler pan. Broil 4 in. from the heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a meat thermometer should read 145 degrees F; medium, 160 degrees F; well-done, 170 degrees F).

This comes out perfect everytime, I have substituted ketchup for the tomato paste and you can't tell the difference. Even my very picky daughter gives this a huge "YESSSS!!" everytime I make it.

One of my favorite recipes found on this site and in our dinner rotation regularly. Very easy and if you can't marinate overnight, about 4-6 hours still does the trick.

This was really really good! I also used low sodium soy sauce and instead of oregano, I used ground ginger. I had 1 flank steak and 1 flat iron steak so I marinaded both. I will make this again.

Great flavour on the meat, I reduced the amount of Soy sauce and it turned out perfect. I didn't pound it to an even thickness, which turned out ok since there was a rarer section and a more wel...

This is a great marinade. I used it on sirloin and strip steak so they would not be so tough. Made it just as written. Will make again.

WOW!! Had this for New Year's eve dinner and everyone wanted the recipe. It was YUMMY!!

Great recipe. The steak was so tender. My first time having a flank steak. I do believe I will use low sodium soy next time as it was just a small bit saltier than I like it.
