  1. Place brussels sprouts in a saucepan with 1 in. of water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 7 minutes. Meanwhile, in a large nonstick skillet, saute the green pepper, celery and onion in butter for 2 minutes. Drain brussels sprouts and add to vegetable mixture. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Cook and stir for 3-5 minutes or until sprouts are tender.

Tasty surprise. Garlic, a few mixed spices and freshly grated romano cheese made this a nice side dish. I'll use it again and play with it. I think sweet potatoes or turnip could be tasty.

I LOVED IT! Which says a lot, I never liked brussel sprouts. It was a hit all around, even my 4 year old ate it (with a little pecorino romano sprinkled on top) Just added season salt and sub...

No seasoning in the water......i.e. salt, makes for bland veggies. Also there is no texture here when you bite into it. Add some water chestnuts, almonds, pistachio.....etc for texture.
