  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, 2 tablespoons sugar, baking powder and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in dates. Combine eggs and milk; stir into crumb mixture just until blended (dough will be soft).
  2. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. With lightly floured hands, gently knead dough 10 times. Pat into a 9-in. x 6-in. rectangle. Using a floured knife, cut into six 3-in. squares; cut each square diagonally in half.
  3. Place on a greased baking sheet. Combine the cinnamon and remaining sugar; sprinkle over scones. Bake at 400 degrees F for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to a wire rack.

This recipe turned out a great tasting scone. I added walnuts, used buttermilk, and half whole wheat flour. Thanks Roni for the recipe. I'll be making these again for sure!

This recipe needs more sugar in the mix. They weren't sweet enough at all, and tasted quite bland. The Simple Scones recipe on this site is much better.

OMG so good never tried dates before so I used cinnamon chips and fed one to my neighbor She's my tester (lucky her) She told me to save this recipe and make more her kids will want some and a c...

gave it a 4 because it's a 5 star on taste and a 3 star on preparation. kind of a pain to make it but very tastey.

i HATE scones but these were delious...with cinnimon in the mix

I'm so happy to see this actually available.I've made this many many times and it always comes out great, and gobbled up. i've even done this with margarine and vanilla soy milk and works great.

Recipe halves nicely. I made the whole thing in my food processor.

Delicious! I had a ton of dates to use up and I thought scones would be perfect. This recipe is wonderful.

Really yummy. My son helped me mix up the dough and we had them in the oven in no time. Next time I will double the recipe because these went fast.
