We're having a church picnic, and because my child has such a restricted diet, I am looking for a gluten-free, meat protein-free summer dish that everyone can enjoy. Any suggestions? It needs to serve around 75 people so, needs to be affordable.

Question: (2 answers)

I live at a high altitude and have lots of trouble cooking with my gas stove. Whenever I make something with wet ingredients (eggs, pancakes, french toast, etc) I can never find the right setting for the heat. My burner dials number LO-2-4-6-8-HIGH. If instructions say to cook something on med-high heat and I set it even just to 4, the parts touching the pan burn within 30 seconds and the middle barely cooks at all. Is this something to do with gas stoves, the altitude, or maybe some combination? Should I try switching to my simmer burner or setting the regular burner even lower? Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Has anybody ever tried separating the egg yolk from the white and beating the white in a pancake recipe? I know that it makes waffles more fluffy, but would it have the same effect on pancakes?

Question: (1 answer)

I was wondering if when making Strawberry Jam after washing and cutting all the fruit, could I put it in the fridge until the next day and then start the cooking process on the stove. Would I have to put fruit fresh, the sugar & lemon etc...? Thanks, Dawnie B

I'm throwing a quick fruit salad for my daughter to take to a class picnic tonight. I have strawberries, raspberries, & blackberries mixed together. I also have some fresh pineapple....would that "go" with it or be completely out of place with the combo of berries?
