Question: (1 answer)

Trying to find Chef John's recipe (and video) for frutti di mare that I saw last year on allrecipes.com and now I cannot find it! It was delicious and I want to make it again...I remember that he added pesto to the sauce. Anyone know where I can find it? Thanks!!

UGGGG>.. I know this will sound mean but really...why won't he go away? I love my mornings in SILENCE. BUT oh no the husband had to get up and there is no good morning did you sleep well? It's five hundred questions about nothing and babbling and then moaning groaning loud yawing and starring at me. Go away!

OT question. My papa sent me a hand bag for my birthday. I received it yesterday. This is a rarity I can hardly believe it. He never sends me anything! So this is extra special. Though it is not what I would had bought for myself I do like it and want to keep it. Problem my step mum smokes and I don't. It reeks of cig smoke. How do I get rid of that smell? It's not cloth but some other material Dooney and burke. Sure I didn't spell that right! Suggestions it is strong!

Question: (4 answers)

Hi guys, I have a recipe for a Kolachky cookie that calls for cake yeast (normally found in small cubes in the refrigerated isles at the grocery store). This recipe had been handed down for generations and I have made it several times. This is the first year that I can't seem to find cake yeast. I have checked 5 stores and have run out of stores to check (and time if I want them for Christmas). Do any of you know of a way to substitute the dry yeast for the recipe? It calls for a 0.6oz cube of cake yeast. Thanks!

Question: (3 answers)

Hi, I have a question about baking soda vs. baking powder in cookies - my understanding is that cookie recipes that call for baking soda also include an acidic ingredient such as buttermilk or chocolate in order to work (i.e., as described here: http://bakerbettie.com/baking-101/baking-powder-and-baking-soda/). Whereas baking powder contains its own leavening agent so it doesn't need to react with an acidic ingredient. So for a recipe that uses baking soda like this one: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Refrigerator-Cookies-III/, what's the acidic element? Is it the shortening? It just looks so similar to a recipe that uses butter instead of shortening and baking powder instead of baking soda, so I'm just curious how it works. Thanks!!

I love the bundt recipe "Too Much Chocolate Cake"! Would it work ok to make it into mini muffins? If so, about how long would I bake them and would I adjust the oven temperature? Thank you so much :-)
