Great cookie recipe Manella, ty. I saw someone posted about it, either today or yesterday, and decided to try it: http://allrecipes.com/personalrecipe/63953062/chocolate-chip-oatmeal-coconut-cookies/detail.aspx

I am looking for a recipe for "Burnt Pear" Preserves. My grandmother used to make them when I was young. They have a very tacky consistency. And are not really burnt. Thank you so much!!!

Does anyone have a favorite shrimp recipe that you would like to share? I have a big bag of raw, peeled shrimp. I am the only one at my house that eats shrimp and I am not too picky so anything goes! Thanks!

Gin Drinks. Looking for some great drink recipes using gin ... somehow we "collected" several bottles of gin and I don't care for gin martinis. Gin and tonic is okay but the tonic never seems to stay bubbly enough.

Thank you Lord for my heat! Had power off all day. Having electric re-done in the house and they just got it back on since 9 this morning. When I scheduled this, it was supposed to be warm. Mother Nature gave us 42 with wind chill of 32 today. And a little snow flurry. I will post Recipe Group early tomorrow before I have to shut things down again for them to finish. I'll keep a check on you'ns on my phone ;)

I had planned for DH to cook a pork shoulder nice & slow on the grill Sun but storms & a tornado bouncing around. Plan B I would slow roast it in the oven Mon night knowing we would get home late but at least it would be cooked for Tues. I woke up about 12:30 Mon night knowing I had forgot to do something. So Plan C was to either throw it in the freezer or in the hated crockpot. I hate the cook a pork roast in my crockpot because it seems to boil in its own fat. So I stacked glass custard bowls upside down in the bottom of the pot, sprinkled the roast with garlic powder, poultry seasoning & S&P, turned the dial to low & went back to bed. I checked it at 5:30 & the temp was 123 so I laid back down. At 11, the temp was 160 & still not boiling in its fat. Then I noticed the dial was set on WARM!!! So I left it like that to cook more while I was away. Came home to tender & juicy but not fat soaked!!! And no one sick after the questionable time it took to get the meat up to temp!
