Let's talk hominy. Or rather, you talk and I'll listen. What does it taste like? What's the texture like? Grits are made from it, aren't they? Are they just un-gritted grits, lol? My guy hates em which makes me wanna try em! I shall not jump on the hominy haters wagon until I do! Please enlighten me before I buy a can. That's the only way you can get them, right? The recipes I've seen sound good but...gawd! They look like chickpeas on steroids! I like chickpeas, btw. K, I'm done talking now.:o)

Question: (3 answers)

Can you recommend a vessel in which to fry chicken? I use my cast iron dutch oven. If I fry for the amount of time and temperature recommended in the recipe I burn the coating. The chicken is moist and tasty, but the coating is black and scorched. What do you suggest?

OK. Nobody call child services please, but I have just realised my kids have never, gulp, never eaten Jell-O!! But in my defence members of the jury, they don't sell it here. Is there a recipe for making homemade Jell-O with gelatin? Thanks!!

Sides or complementary idea's for supper tonight? I'm making "Tuna Patties", like Crab cakes or Salmon patties but made with tuna. What to serve with them? I have all kinds of salad makings, pastas, potatoes, rice, quinoa and melons from my bountiful basket this week. What would you fix besides tarter sauce?

Question: (4 answers)

OT - I'm looking for some kitchen cleaning tips. I have a black & stainless gas range. I over boiled pasta and it ran under the flames and basically scorched on my stovetop. I have tried soap/water, vinegar, something called awesome that reeks to high heaven, but it absolutely will not budge. I also have some splatters on my oven window that will not budge and have tried the soap/water, vinegar, something called awesome it also doesn't help. Can anyone give me some ideas to try? One more thing -- there must be some grease splatter spots on the "stainless" parts and I cannot get them off either. I almost always wipe everything down asap to make sure it doesn't cake on, but it appears I didn't do that at one point. Please help!

Hi all! I was watching a cooking show last week where the host did a breakfast challenge at the firehouse. I was really intrigued by one of the dishes but can't find the show or a similar recipe. Here you go.... he tore up crescent rolls (cooked) and laid them in the bottom of a 9x13 pan. Topped with fresh blueberries then with (what I think he said) a think layer of cream cheese and brown sugar. He then poured an egg mixture over the hole thing and baked it. Any suggestions?
