Hi everyone. For celiac and NCGS people, have you ever tried enzyme pills to help reduce the effects of small amounts of gluten on your system? I know they are not intended to be used to make up for eating meals laden with gluten. But I have heard that they can help if you are "glutened" accidentally with trace amounts. I will be eating in restaurants this month (not by choice) and wondered if anyone had any feedback on efficacy. Thank you.

Question: (2 answers)

I live in NZ and found a recipe for Ginger Marmalade on this site. I wanted to know how to read the amount of fresh ginger. The recipe says 3 1/2 cups. Is that 3 and a half cups or 3 1/2 cups making 1-1/2 cups each of cubed and shredded ginger. Total ginger should equal 3 cups. Liquid pectin is not sold in New Zealand so I am using apple pips and grated apple to see the result. Hope someone can help. I have read the revues but the comments were not much help.

Thank you everyone for the lovely birthday wishes! I'm traveling in Colorado this week and just saw them now. They helped counteract the 8 inches of hail we got on my birthday! :)

Recently I have been asked to use no salt in my diet. Has anyone tried no salt in their breadmaking machine?

Thanks SHORECOOK for the super nice review on the onions!! I'm gonna have to try the potatoes with it!! YUM. I also have to look for the already peeled cipollinis. I buy them at sprouts and they are a bugger to peel!!

Question: (1 answer)

I made the Pastel de Tres Leches twice and both times it rises like a cake is supposed to, but then it sort of collapsed and shrunk. Is it supposed to do this? Also, the second time I made it, it didn't soak up all the milk. Am I doing something wrong?

Question: (2 answers)

In my Breadmaker's instructions, it says that I need to use warm/hot water (approx. 115F) but in other breadmaker recipes, it does not mention the water being warm. Basically, can the yeast rise if the water or milk is not warm? Thanks!

I have an aluminium half sheet pan and it's got a little build up of grease on the lip of it. I want to clean it up before it gets too bad and I am wondering what to use. Would a steel wool pad scratch it ?

Question: (3 answers)

I found a little 3" squash on one of my squash plants this morning! I'm super excited, hoping the bugs/ants don't eat them up before they are ready! We haven't been using pesticides because we want to keep it as natural as possible -- and this is our first "garden" (it's a raised bed) so we are newbies at this. If you have a garden have any of your plants started producing?
