I want to make the Extreme Chocolate Cake in a 9 x 13 pan. Does any one know how long I should cook it? The original recipe calls for round 9 inch pans and the cook time is 30-35 minutes. Thanks!

Your recipe fits into two 9" diameter pans, and you are putting it into a 9x13 pan. Surface area of two (" diameter is about 40.5 square inches. Surface area of the 9x13 is 117. I'm thinking about 22-25 minutes, and be testing the middle of the cake with a toothpick (to see when it comes out clean and dry). Mind, I'm not a Baker, so you might get better advice from others.

1 - 9x13 is usually considered about the same as 2 - 9" rounds. (The area of a 9" round = 64 sq in). ... The depth of the batter is largely what determines the bake time. I would bake at about the same time at the original recipe, but as with all cakes, use a toothpick to check for doneness since ovens vary quite a bit. AR has a good conversion charts who subbing other sized pans. ...

Julie just to be on the safe side, watch at around 22 minutes in case you have a hot oven. As they mention above, the toothpick test is the best for determining doneness. It sounds good. Enjoy!

Times sound good. I just wanted to remind you that the cake mix you are using is likely smaller than the recipe calls for. Add 1/3 cup or so of flour. I made this recipe twice in the last week and left the extra flour out the second time due only to forgetfulness. It is much better with the extra flour
