I need to know the conversion of one pound of powdered sugar to cups. All I have are 2-lb bags and recipe calls for 1-lb powered sugar and one is already opened.

I checked the Dixie Crystal website - and the measurement they give is a one pound box of powdered sugar is equivalent to 4 cups

Answers online range anywhere from 3 to 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 to 4 cups, so it's very confusing. I wish recipes would list the amount needed in cups instead of saying 1 box. Too much margin for error.

Depends if it is sifted of unsifted (somewhere between 3.8 to 4.5 cups). Don't confuse weight for volume. ...
