What is the difference between panco bread crumbs and plain bread crumbs?

Supposed to be about the crunchiness. I tried them AHH! I still like to make my own bread crumbs and find the crunchiness is all about the temperature I cook at but who am I to say! I like to use hard Italian Bread and season it. panko is usually made with the centers of white bread w/o crust. It's lighter, pieces are usually bigger.

I just like to make my own bread crumbs,i tried the panko,do not like them.

Panco is lighter and more crispy

panko bread crumbs are toasted or "dried" bread crumbs are just bread crumbs.

If I am not mistaken panko bread crumbs is from a Japanese bread while bread crumbs is from bread.

I thought so too Nadine. But evidently it is just white bread with the crusts cut off and the middles used only! Who knew?! I've been making my own stuffing bread and bread crumbs(usually don't dry the crumbs though)

Panko is a Japanese word that describes using bread crumbs as a coating. Apparently they are made by shreading bread and then toasted so you get a lighter consistency then the regular ground up bread crumbs. I only recently tried panko, and I love it! Crispier, crunchier, and lighter. I like it for the crispiness alone.
