Tall, fluffy pancakes make the best breakfast, especially when there's plenty of butter and syrup. Make it extra special with berries and whipped cream!

DD bought reduced fat buttermilk. Ugh. Never send your kid to the store. Will it suffice?

I think it should be good with that.

Hi Lisa, that should work just fine. Adding lemon juice or vinegar to milk is often used as a substitute for buttermilk. I suspect that they used the substitution in the recipe because not many people keep buttermilk in the house. I didn't know that you could get reduced fat buttermilk - it usually runs around 1% milk fat - is it lower than that?

Good point Mrs. J. - leave out the vinegar! Just use the same volume of buttermilk instead of milk.

It's 1 1/2%. Really? Ugh.

Agree, you should be fine. I usually buy reduced fat.

It is hard to find buttermilk that is higher in fat than what your daughter purchased....most stores don't carry the higher fat product.

Here is one that is 3.5%. http://www.darigold.com/products/milk/3pt5percent-bulgarian-buttermilk

Its just a "teensy" bit of difference (pun intended) that I don't think you'll notice a lot of difference. But an alarming sign that you should teach your kids how to cook, or 'what makes a difference' in how a recipe comes out. After all, they are going to pick out the menu plan when they put you in the Old Age Home...

I'll be sitting there, with my pant leg soaked in my own urine, gawking at the lovely young girls, and periodically fauling asleep, but there you go...
