Hi scootersandi! Thank you very much for your hilarious review! I saw it last night when I closed the recipe. My inspiration was I really do have an armadillo making holes all over my yard. We been setting a live trap for 2 weeks but only thing we've caught is the cat!

P.S. - No kitties were harmed, or even irritated, in the trapping attempts! He was trapped twice. When I went out the next mornings, he would stand, stretch, & slowly walk out!

be careful HotGrandma. I don't know what state you live in but armadillos can carry leprosy. If one is a carrier it can even contaminate the soil it digs in. cases documented are typically out west but it's advised not to rule out the southern states.

Thanks, Linda (LMT), for that information. I had no idea about this.

Thank you Linda for that info. I had never heard that. My dad told me they can ruin a foundation but I have a crawlspace. I am in MS but this health scare concerns me very much. It is getting to be flip flop season & my grand girls sometimes lose them when running. One does cartwheels all around the yard. I was being funny about sitting out there with a gun & don't want to kill anything but it is time to Bubba on this varmit.

I was a little shocked myself. I had no idea they could be carriers of such an awful disease. If caught early it's treatable but still. I am thinking of becoming a wildlife rehabilitator and while researching different animals to rehabilitate I discovered this. Won't be considering armadillos ...

Hi Linda! I had noticed a few holes in the yard & didn't think too much about it. Then one night, coming home not too long after dark, caught sight of the armadillo in the headlights ambling away. Then more holes so set the live trap. But can't catch the thing & 2 weeks later, my yard is awful with holes. I have never heard of a wildlife rehabilitator but it does sound interesting & worthy. I think all critters have their own place & jobs on Earth. That is until they pose a danger to the babies.

Agree. Have you tried baiting your trap with spoiled meat, sardines/fish or over ripe fruit? These are suppose to be some of the best to lure them in.

i wonder if they swim- i heard on the home fix-it show to get rid of chipmunks with a bucket of water and board- i am trying to find out if squirrels can swim(could apply to them_ as they get in our attic sometimes- i hate poison and they will not go into the traps--
