I had a garage/yard sale. neighbor buys a few, reserves a few, pays a little down for one. Borrows something but doenst bring it back. I put out a large planter and she declares she must have. Doesn't ask price. I go in house and come back and planter is gone.

Hi ARname, sounds like neighbour could be a bit of a dishonest taker. You need eyes in the back of your head these days. Pretty bad when people will take yard sale stuff without paying!

I don't really know her more than a wave and a hi so I don't know her intentions. Normally I'd let it go, -if you need it that bad- but I really need the money, moving Is expensive.

This summery cocktail from the Vig Bar in New York City has a delightfully fresh flavor, thanks to plenty of fresh cucumber, a little lime juice, and elderflower liqueur.

eod she brings down a couple of drinks and admired 2 pitchers I put out so I gave them to her, cuz she had hung out and helped me a good bit. I already gave her less than I wanted on the items she bought. I need a nice way to ask her if she wants the 2 things or have her bring them back without being offensive. Was thinking maybe "Can't remember what you bought, what you paid for, etc." Got any ideas?

that is probably what I would do, you can get your point across without a fight and bad words spoken. I don't mean to put bad intentions on anyone, but there are signs that she seems to think she can take advantage a bit, there are people who appear nice but they are out to get something for nothing, its your stuff and you have a right to ask what a price for it, I hope I don't sound too judgemental, don't mean to be but I have seen too many takers!

Its important to make her pay up as tactfully as you can!

Tally up what she has already taken, what she wants and doesn't want (because you need to sell your stuff, you need the money to move)and what she hasn't paid for and hand her the paper and ask her what she wants to do. You are putting the stuff on Craigslist and you need to know what to post :)

Also put a total next to each item on there, minus what she has paid and what she owes.

good ideas Celeste, I couldn't quite find the words that I wanted to say, I have always had a problem putting my thoughts into words!

I agree with Celeste. Putting it on paper makes it business and not personal. Best of luck.

I disagree Bernadene. You said exactly like I was feeling it.

I wish I was brave enough to do Craigslist but I'd get murdered for sure. Maybe I'll write down like mentioned and act like I cant remember, true cuz peple were wanting things still in use and I said come back next week. Shuld have wrote it down cuz dont' remember what promised to who really.

Hi ARname, I am sorry if I sounded like I was putting negative words or thoughts to you, that was not what I intended at all. That is why I usually never get involved in topics that are not food related, I guess I didn't quite understand what you were saying. I will stick to subjects that are food related, wish you the best in your move!

I did not take what you said that way at all. You hit the nail on the head as far as I'm concerned. I felt taken advantage of but being yard sale items you think who would do that? Then I thought about the planter and I know I wouldn't forget to ask the price and take something without paying or saying I'll pay you later. You offered validation of what I was feel ing and that is very valuable so you jump in any time. Than kyou.

lol- here's how i would do it- just because i cannot confront anyone straight on- i would print or write out this recipe- ask her if she thinks it would be good-- then say- oh -I AM BLONDE- i forgot about collecting for the planter- etc:-)

lol, nanny. I AM gonna play it blonde. I'm gonna give her a list then she can pay up or give back and decline. she told me 3-4 times she wants one of my ladders but never asked how much I want for it. I'd never say I wanted something witout knowing the price.
