I live in Northern Mn and we have sooooo many ways to cook wild rice, real "wild rice" which is hand parched and the best in the world. My favorite is Wild Rice breakfast: Cooked wild rice, warm cream, sliced bananas, handful of nuts, sliced strawberries and real maple syrup. Once you have this dish for breakfast you will never have anything else! Another way is cooked wild rice then pour nice hot turkey gravy over the rice! Or try cooked wild rice then butter, salt and pepper to taste! Of course we use in stuffing and caseroles but we also have wild rice brats! So, many ways! Our Wild Rice from Northern Minnesota, specifically Nett Lake rice is the best!

One of my favorite ways to eat wild rice is to melt a stick of butter, add an onion, fresh mushrooms, celery and green pepper, saute and add cooked rice vegetables and half and half, bake for 30 die for! A must at my Thanksgiving table. I turn the leftovers into soup if there is any.

When we went to MN for work, the people that lived there took us out to dinner the first night we were there. I don't remember the restaurant name but they almost forced us to order the wild rice soup. which we did which I am still hooked on. I make loads of things now with Wild rice because of it. I still don't think I could make Wild rice soup like they did. MMMM GOOD!!

I live on Leech Lake and we love our wild rice too! My BF's mom makes the best wild rice hot dish! :)

What part of Mn. are you from, I was born and raised in Mn. The best wild rice I have gotten was from Canada however.

Me or jwalter? I am originally from the Twin Cities and have been transplanted to Leech Lake/Walker area. The best wild rice I have found is not the black rice, that is "overcooked". The light brown rice is the stuff I like the most. :)

Hello Wild Rice fans! cool comments. I live 60 miles NW of Duluth and 2 hours from Canandian border! Enrolled in Bois Forte Band of Ojibwe, been to Leech Lake a lot, make chicken wild rice soup quite a few times in the winter (love it), also wild rice hot dish. The black rice is paddy rice, not really wild rice. I will check into getting my wild rice recipes published! Who else has had Indian porridge ( W. rice, cream, berries, bananas, maple syrup)?
