Please give me any ideas on what to see, where to eat in either place! Soooo exited to come to America again (even if it is only in transit...) TIA as always!!

Our eldest daughter and family live in the Houston are (Tomball) and I've been there many times. I've also been to Chicago several times. I would choose Chicago! They are very different and both have their highlights. But, I MUCH prefer Chicago. They Aquarium if fabulous and it so pretty on the lake. Yep! My vote is Chicago!

HOWEVER, In December, it will be cold and snowy in Chicago and much warmer in Houston. I would look at the average weather online for both places and depending on what you like, choose.

The Sandwiches sound very yummy too. But DH is coeliac and not all sandwich places (here in Ireland) cater for coeliacs....

Hi from Chicago! Our weather could really su?@! in December (or it could be great) Never know day to day here! Giordano's and Gino's East are for tourists- take a cab to Chicago Pizza and Oven Grinders (on Clark St.) Portillo's is just a fast-food chain around here but always crowded-have an Italian beef sandwich with sweet peppers and natural gravy. Check out Millenium Park if the weather is OK. Buckingham fountain will be closed. O'Hare Airport is pretty far from downtown though.

I have never been to Houston, but I do love Chicago. It just has a nice feel to it. Honestly though, I would hesitate to plan a trip there in December. We get bad enough winters here in Ontario, I'd be shooting for somewhere warmer.

I am from houston and could suggest some Mexican food places once you know where your staying if you decide to come here! The aquarium is fun but way overpriced for the quality of their food. Pretty much anything at the Galaria is good. It will defiantly be less cold here! I think Chicago would be great too though! My sisters boyfriend is from Chicago and he eats very different when it comes to food. We eat lots of seafood and Mexican food and he doesn't care for either. We do lots of crab boils and crawfish boils and I always have to come up with a seperate dish for him. I'm sure you will have a great time either place u go!

I live not too far from the airport in chicago. There are some great steakhouses in Rosemont. Gibson's , Morton's and Harry Carey's. Rosemont also opened a Shopping center and offers check in for the airport. Currency exchange for international travelers and shuttle service from any of the hotels for a charge. And the christmas lights are awesome. So my vote is Chicago. :)

In Chicago there's a super fondue restaurant called Geja's. It's worth every penny. It's fun, romantic and such a special place.
