don't you hate to submit a very carefully written, well thought out recipe only to have somebody...

tweek it? not me. but for the review to be unkind/ unjust because of the tweaks? yeah, that irritates me. here is my problem. it was my recipe. i doubled this then lessened that forgot the other thing and promised to add the other next time because i forgot to buy it. sooo, tweakers of the world beware. my captive culniary culprits still choked it down. claire's shrimp and crab gazpacho.

yup...always unkind to rate if not made the way it was written....i mean, i am not opposed to tweaking (god knows i do it all the time), but rating on the tweaks is not fair. sorry. i know it hurts your feelings....i've had mine hurt about my recipe too. :-( but. it's all good. right?

And when they say "I can only give 3 stars because I changed the ingredients"...Why do they punish the recipe for what THEY did? Ridiculous! I don't rate recipes I tweak, because then I haven't made THE RECIPE. I mean a little more of this or that is understandable, but any more than that should disqualify the rating...

I was getting mad on your behalf and was looking for this bad review. Glad it was you that messed it up

i admit to being an idiot...still yelling time/ingredient constraints.

I also hate that. your recipe is to be made the way you printed it. if they can't or don't want to make it that way then they should refrain from posting a review saying that they didn't like it. it was probably their own fault that it tasted so bad!

I had minor tweaks on a published recipe. But I feel it would make a difference in the final product. I did put the original stuff in a comment. (light soy sauce & use cold rice) but it is a bit annoying.

I have that on my menu for tomorrow, and I am an unrepentant tweaker! But I never give less than a great review if I change anything. If it tanks, no one but knows about it but me. LOL!

Hi Gary I just love it when people post "regional" cooking recipes that I can try out. Seldom, if ever, can I access all the ingredients... for instance "Old Bay" spice is not available where I live, but I get the drift of it, and can sort of extemporise to come up with something similar...but the inspiration to try something "different" and "new" is priceless. There will forever be the argument over "beans in chili", or the infamous "Cincinnati Chili" that suggests that this be served over pasta, as opposed the traditional Texian recipes, let alone the Mexican type that allows for "chunk beef" pieces that are stewed instead of ground or chopped beef, let alone those "heretics" that propose it can be made with ground turkey... They are all pretty good (though I draw the line at the Cinci format or the turkey), but we all have our favourites) and we are all known to b*tch like a five year old when it is not done "our way"! LOL!

Yes someone recently did that with one of my frosting recipes. Stated that they messed up the recipe and then rated it three stars. I don't know why people take the time to post a rating if they are not going to follow the recipe posted.

We have a right to our opinions and to family preferences! But, when changing a recipe AND giving an uncomplimentary rating? That is not fair!
