Kathleen is looking for: (5 recommendations)
We have a male friend who will be gone 5-6 days a week for chemo/radiation treatment in another city (6 hours a day.) Any ideas what kind of comfort food snacks we can send with him? (we'll make meals on the weekends). He starts this week, so we don't know if he will have an aversion to anything in particular yet. Any care package ideas are appreciated, too - magazines, snacks, crossword puzzle books, itunes/movie giftcards (if he can watch on an ipad or something?)Thanks so much for any advice!

Frittata Primavera

Submitted by: PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese
The fresh veggies in this frittata are ideal for a light brunch while the PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese adds a decadently creamy quality.

For books what is his favorite athor. Maybe you can pick up a couple from the library or books store.

This is a great recipe. Small containers of fruit juices, ginerale and soda crackers. To help the tummy. Also check into boost or ensure for a meal replacement. When my mom was on treatments she drank alot of this.

All good ideas Nadine. When my sister had chemo. she liked having soup. You can use a thermos to keep things hot or cold, and yes I agree with Nadine that you are good friends.

You mentioned he has an Ipad? There are a lot of free ebooks available on There are free movies and TV episodes available also but he may have to be a "prime" member for that. It's very good of you to help your friend. I pray he does well.

A new pillow to take with him. My husband liked to take his own pillow. It gave him such comfort. Good luck to your friend.

I would stick with bland things initially. Chemo often affects the taste of foods. He will likely be nauseous too so if you can incorporate ginger in things that may help settle his stomach. Maybe a batch of ginger snaps?

I vote for iPad movies. Comedies. Lots of them. And a really funny book I once read called " Sh*t my dad says". No better medicine than laughter. Prayers for your friend.

How about a fuzzy blanket or nice comfy slippers? A soft pillow? Maybe a comfy gel cushion for the ride? If he has an ipod, iphone, whatever - have him download some relaxing sounds. A journal? Prayers go out to your friend.
