I need a small two bite type treat for Canada Day....something that says CANADA! I was thinking of the inside recipe but not sure. Any ideas?

Serve this very sweet maple syrup custard pie in thin slices. It makes a great fall dessert and would be wonderful on your holiday dessert table.

I was either going to make this into mini tarts or possibly into squares if it would set firm enough.

I saved this recipe! If you are going to make it, remember that by using a 9x13 pan, your baking time will be a little different. You'd be looking for the sugary topping that is slightly browned. If you make this in a jelly roll pan, I'd start checkig it at 25 minutes. I like the idea of a jelly roll pan myself! But then again, in those mini muffin pans with the tassie pie crust, this would be delicious!

That certainly is easy enough, quick and easy too. This may be a keeper.

Nanaimo Bars III

Because it's three layers, this sounds hard but it's worth it. My son is famous for making and taking these in to work. I've heard other names but here in the Northwest everyone knows them as Nanaimo bars. They are sold on British Columbia Ferries and at coffee stands. If you can't find custard powder, I've used instant pudding mix with good results.

Or maybe these....but Nanaimo says EAST COAST to me and not CANADA. Even a recipe that was red and white would be good.

^^^^^^This is the authentic recipe, I made it yesterday for Canada day treats. I am from Vancouver Island, lived in Nanaimo for 8 years! Oh, and we're on the West Coast btw ;)

OMGarsh! I so can't believe I wrote EAST instead of WEST. I did know that really. One of those brain dead moments. It even took me a minute to realize what you had said - duh!

Sucre la creme is a traditional fudge from the Quebec province of Canada. The ingredients are simple and few, but the result is sweet and delightful! And because this recipe is cooked in the microwave, you're never too far from a quick sugar fix!

Canadian Doughnuts

Submitted by: Carol
If you ever visited Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, in the winter months on the Rideau Canal, which is the longest skating rink in the world, they serve 'Beaver Tails,' a sweet pastry that is essentially a flat doughnut with sugar on top. I could not get the authentic recipe since it is their trade secret, but I created a replica of what they serve.

My daughter and family visited Ottawa for the big hockey tournie this past winter. Our grandsons LOVED the beavertails. All of the Canadians were so kind to them. Thank you from a grateful mom and grandmother for taking good care of my family! Happy Canada Day, RedApple and all!

The name of this recipe is a little misleading; there is no pork in these sweet treats! A crisp cookie tart shell, a sweet date filling, and maple icing make these tarts a unique and delicious Cape Breton treat!

This recipe was born out of a challenge to include bacon in a cookie batter. While that has been done before, the inclusion of chocolate chips and maple together in a whipped batter make this a sweet-yet-savory chewy cookie treat!

This also looks good, you could add pecans or whatever nuts you like to this.

You could maybe find red and white chocolate chips in a bulk barn or something? Otherwise you could make some red and white swirly icing or a bulk store might also have little flags or maple leaf candies to stick on top.

I like the red and white swirly icing idea. Thanks.
