Dinner SOS: I just poured a 1/2 pint heavy cream into a scampi sauce. The cream is dated 3/14 but was clumpy. It dissolved and the carton doesn't smell sour. Is it okay? I rarely use heavy cream.

I'd guess it's probably OK. More than likely it just needed a good shaking up before you dumped it in. As long as it smells ok, you should be good to go. Take a tiny taste and see if it tastes alright.

I concur with Mother Ann! I just had the same thing happen to me only I was making something else. It just need a good shake. Tasted fine and worked great in the recipe!

I would bet it's fine, but give it a taste test. It won't hurt you :)

If it smells ok I would use it. Stilltasty says it is good in fridge for 3 to 4 days after exp date in fridge opened or unopened.
