St. Louis Toasted Ravioli

The St. Louis style of preparing ravioli is unique and delicious. The ravioli is breaded, fried and served with marinara sauce and a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.

I just told me husband "yum, somebody is AR is making toasted ravioli!". He said "LUCKY!!!!" The first time we had it, we were in St. Louis. It's not very popular down here in Texas. You don't hardly ever see it. I've tried to make it myself, but it wasn't as good as we had in a restaurant up there. mmmmmmmmmm

My hubby had to work all weekend. I haven't made toasted ravioli in years for him. Hoping he says yum when he finally gets to sit down about 8pm tonight.

Tomatoes, parsley, garlic, and oregano go for a spin in your food processor before simmering with onion and a dash of white wine in this marinara sauce recipe.

Now I think about it I do believe this mom and pop, actually mom and son, place we used to go to served toasted ravioli. I usually had my face in the calamari so I don't remember the ravioli so much..

LOL! I've never even had calamari. I did see toasted rav's at Aldis recently. I almost bought them, but I'm cheap and I thought it was overpriced. Now, I wish I had bought them, but I better it's still better to just buy raviolis at the store and toast them up yourself.

I love Aldi but I have found that their already prepared foods are BLAND so I stopped trying them. I'd go with making from scratch.

Agree 100%. My family isn't even that picky, but told me not to buy their frozen pizzas anymore. I did buy some frozen egg rolls that we liked.

Basic Spicy Tomato Sauce

This sauce can be used for spaghetti, ravioli, chicken Parmesan, or anything Italian! It's very quick and very easy! Anything from seasoning to spices can be adjusted without compromising the basic flavor of the sauce. Sometimes we add bell peppers or tomatoes with green chiles. Add anything you like.

And speaking of calamari and pizza sauce, I use exquisite pizza sauce for my calamari. More BANG, more GOOD. Would be good on the ravioli too.

I wondered about the exquisite pizza sauce. It's been a favorite around here. Just thought something different for a change (that usually ends up with us saying "why didn't we just stick with what we know we like"...but we shall see...) Thanks everyone !

I have never tried toasted ravioli. Sounds like something I would like. I think I will try it on my family if I can find some here in our store or walmart? I haven't ever made marinara from scratch either. Time to try it!!
